Find the right level
Junior
Show fundamentals through a small finished project. Explain your code or decisions, how you test your work and what you learned from feedback. Look for roles with mentoring and a scope you can grow into.
Middle
Demonstrate independent delivery: turn a requirement into a working solution, handle edge cases and support it after release. Use examples of trade-offs, collaboration and improvements you can substantiate.
Senior
Show ownership beyond individual tasks: architecture, risk, cross-team decisions and support for other specialists. Explain the impact and limits of your decisions. Titles vary between employers, so compare responsibilities rather than years alone.
How to approach your job search
- Set your target: specialization, level, location, working language and remote or office format.
- Compare relevant vacancies and adapt your CV to the actual responsibilities. Use the employer’s terminology where it accurately describes your experience.
- Prepare two or three examples showing a problem, your actions and the outcome. Add metrics only when you can explain how they were measured.
- Track applications, interview feedback and unanswered questions. Confirm location restrictions, contract terms and the selection process with each employer.
Before you apply
Do I need every listed skill?
No. Requirements differ by team and seniority. Prioritize the core responsibilities and be clear about what you know, what you have used in practice and what you are still learning.
Can I apply without commercial experience?
Look for entry-level opportunities and use coursework, personal or open-source projects as evidence. Label them accurately and explain your own contribution; they do not need to be presented as paid work.
